# Scheduled messages

> Make your bot post by itself, every day or every few minutes.

A **timed event** is an alarm clock for your bot. When it rings, your event runs, without anyone typing anything.

## Step 1: Make the timer

1. Open any builder and press **Timed Events** on the thin bar on the left.
2. Press **Add New Timed Event**.
3. Give it a **Name**, like `Daily tip`. This name shows in the trigger list when you build an event.
4. Pick how often it rings:
   * **Interval**: again and again forever, every so many **seconds, minutes, hours or days**. The shortest is **10 seconds**.
   * **Schedule**: **once a day** at a set time in **UTC**. Use **Only on** to pick weekdays, like only Mondays.
5. Save it. It shows in the list of **Active Events**.

<Info>
  UTC is world time. If you live somewhere else, work out the difference first. For example, 18:00 UTC is 20:00 in South Africa.
</Info>

## Step 2: Make the event

1. Open **Events** and make a **new event**.
2. Pick your timed event, `Daily tip`, as the thing that starts it.
3. Add a block that sends a message **to a channel** and write your message.
4. Save and switch it on.

## Ideas

* A different tip each day: use **Random chance** checks with different messages.
* A daily question of the day.
* A reminder every 2 hours to bump your server.

<Warning>
  A timed event that an event still uses cannot be deleted. Delete or change the event first.
