# Timed events

> Run blocks by themselves on a clock.

A **timed event** runs **by itself on a clock**, like an alarm clock. Nobody has to do anything.

> **Example**
>
> Post a daily tip every 24 hours, or check every 10 minutes if a giveaway has ended.

## Two ways to use a clock

**Ready-made clocks**

The event list already has clocks, from **Every 10 Seconds Timed Event** up to **Every 24 Hours (Daily) Timed Event**. Make a new event and pick one.

See them all in [Timed events list](/event-triggers/timed-events-list).

**Your own timed event**

Need a different time? Make your own in the builder's **Timed Events** panel. Then use it as the trigger of an event. See the steps below.

## Make your own timed event

**1. Open the Timed Events panel**

In the builder, press **Timed Events** in the side bar on the left.

**2. Add one**

Press **Add New Timed Event** and give it a **Name**. The name is shown in the trigger list when you build an event.

**3. Pick when it runs**

| Choice | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Interval** | Runs again and again, every so many seconds, minutes, hours or days. At least **10 seconds**. |
| **Schedule** | Runs **once a day** at a time in **UTC**. Use **Only on** to pick the weekdays. |

**4. Use it in an event**

Make a new event and pick **When a timed event is executed**. Then choose your timed event and add your blocks.

The panel lists your timed events under **Active Events**. A timed event that an event is using can't be deleted.

## Things to know

> [!WARNING]
>
> A timed event has **no person and no channel**, because nobody did anything. So `{user_name}` and **Reply** don't work here. To say something, use **Post in a channel** and type the channel's ID.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If your bot is in more than one server, a timed event runs once for **each** server.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Schedule** times are in **UTC**, the world clock. If you live somewhere else, work out what time that is for you.
