# Words you'll see

> A tiny dictionary of every word DogeBot uses.

Don't worry about learning these all at once. Come back to this page whenever a word confuses you.

## Discord words

| Word | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Bot** | A robot helper that lives in Discord or WhatsApp. |
| **Server** | A Discord community. It has channels and members. Your bot joins a server to work there. |
| **Channel** | A room inside a server, like `#general`. |
| **Member** or **user** | A person in a server. |
| **Role** | A name tag a member can have, like "Admin" or "Verified". Roles decide what people can see and do. |
| **Embed** | A fancy Discord message with a coloured edge, a title and pictures. |
| **Button** | Something people can click under a message. |
| **Token** | A secret password for your bot. **Never** share it with anyone. |

## DogeBot words

| Word | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Dashboard** | Your control room on dogebot.net. |
| **Block** | One small job for your bot, like "Send a message". |
| **Builder** | The screen where you place and join blocks. There is a Command Builder, an Event Builder and a WhatsApp flow builder. |
| **Canvas** | The big dotted board inside the builder where you put blocks. |
| **Line** | The join between two blocks. The bot follows the lines from block to block. |
| **Command** | Something people type with a slash, like `/daily`. The bot then runs your blocks. |
| **Slash command** | A command that starts with a **/** (slash). Discord shows a little menu of your bot's slash commands when someone types /. |
| **Context command** | A command you find by right-clicking (or long-pressing) a person or a message, then choosing **Apps**. |
| **Event** | Something that happens by itself, like "someone joined". The bot then runs your blocks. |
| **Trigger** | What starts your blocks. For a command it's typing the command. For an event it's the thing happening. |
| **Variable** | A word in curly brackets, like `{user_name}`. DogeBot swaps it for the real thing, like the person's name. |
| **Custom variable** | A variable you make yourself, like coins or levels. Its name starts with `DBVAR_`, like `{DBVAR_coins}`. |
| **Saved value** | Something your bot remembers, like how many coins someone has. Saved values live in the **Database**. |
| **Module** | A ready-made feature you can switch on, like "Leveling" or "Tickets". |
| **Card** | A picture your bot draws by itself in Card Studio, like a welcome card or a rank card. |
| **Premium** | The paid plan with more space and extras. |
| **Flow** | On WhatsApp, a set of blocks is called a flow. |

> **Example: a variable at work**
>
> You write: `Hi {user_name}!`
>
> When Sam uses the command, the bot shows: **Hi Sam!**

> [!WARNING]
>
> **The one word to remember:** your bot **token** is like the key to your house. If someone else gets it, they can control your bot. Only paste it into DogeBot. Never post it in a chat, a screenshot or a video.
