# Check and fix your variables

> See what is inside your boxes and find mistakes.

Something not working? Here is how to look inside your boxes and find the problem.

## 1. Look up one member

On the **Database** page, open **Look up a member** and pick a member. You see every value saved for that person, like their coins and level. (For WhatsApp it is **Look up a contact**.)

## 2. Open the Problems tab

The **Problems** tab on the Database page lists mistakes, like a command using a variable that does not exist. The number turns red when there is something to fix.

## 3. Watch the variable change with Replays

**Replays** record your command while it runs, so you can play it back block by block. While you build:

1. Press a block and turn on **Track** for up to **4 variables**.
2. Use your command in Discord.
3. Open the Replays panel under the board and step through the run.

You see little chips like **coins: empty → 150**, so you know exactly which block changed what. See [Replays](/the-builders/replays).

## 4. Write values into the replay

Add a **Replay note** block anywhere. It writes the values you pick into the replay, so you can check them **without sending test messages** to your server.

## 5. Read the Error Logs

If a block fails, **Error Logs** shows which block, who ran it, and the **values when it ran**. Press **Open the block** to jump straight to it. See [Error Logs](/the-builders/error-logs).

## Quick checklist

* Is the name spelled exactly right? Copy it from the Database page.
* Is it the right **type**? Maths only works on **Number**.
* Should every member have their own? Then it must be a **User** variable.
* Is **Whose variable** set to the right person in Save a value and Do the maths?
* Is the box empty? Add a starting value or a backup like `{DBVAR_coins|0}`.
