# Honeypot

> A trap channel that catches spam bots.

Spam bots and hacked accounts post in every channel they can see. A honeypot is a channel no real member has a reason to post in, so anyone who does is caught on the spot.

**1. Make the channel**

Create a channel like `#dont-post-here`.

**2. Pick it**

On the Honeypot module page, choose it as the **Trap channel** and what happens: **Ban**, **Kick** or **Time out**.

**3. Protect your staff**

Add your staff roles as **Safe roles** so they can post there without being caught.

**4. Save**

The bot posts a red warning embed in the channel ("Don't post in this channel") so real members know.

Options: delete what they posted, DM them first, and log every catch to a channel.
