The Message Builder page (under Build in the sidebar) lets you design messages and save them. Then you can use the same message in many commands and events, without building it again each time.

Example

Design your server rules once in the Message Builder. Then use them in a /rules command and in a welcome event.

Kinds of messages

To send messages from a command or event, use the message blocks. See Messages, buttons and menus.

Building a Layout message

The Layout message builder has four parts:
1

The parts list (left)

Text, sections, pictures, galleries, separators, buttons and menus. Pick the parts you want.
2

Your message (middle)

Your parts, stacked in order. Type straight into a text part. Each one shows up to 5 lines.
3

Settings

Settings for the part you picked, with the character count and Insert a variable.
4

Live preview (right)

See what Discord will show, while you build.
In a Layout message, buttons and menus get their own row automatically, so you can place them anywhere in your message.

Pictures

Every picture box has Upload image and Your uploads.
  • PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP, up to 8 MB each.
  • A Media Gallery takes up to 10 pictures at once.
  • Uploads count toward your bot’s storage.
Want a picture made just for this person? Use Card Studio and {card}.

Putting values in messages

Press Insert a variable (or { } Variables), or type values in curly brackets.

Example

You write: Welcome, {user_name}!Sam sees: Welcome, Sam!
See Use variables in blocks.

Import JSON

Made a message somewhere else? Press Import JSON, then paste it or drop in a .json file. DogeBot checks it and tells you clearly if something is wrong.

Editing a message later

When you edit a message the bot sent before, the editor starts from the original message, so you only change what you need.
