Sometimes you need a box just for a moment, like a sticky note you throw away when you are done. You do not want it on the Database page forever. Short-lived values only last while the command or event is running. When it ends, they’re gone. The next time the command is used, it starts fresh.

Where they come from

See Built-in variables for all of them.

The Temporary value block

1

Add the block

Find Temporary value in the block list and drag it onto the canvas.
2

Give it a name

Type a Name, like my_value. Use the same name again later in the same run to change it.
3

Give it a value

Type a Value, like hello {user_name}. Use the { } Variables button to add other values. If you leave the value empty, DogeBot puts in a brand new unique ID. That is handy when you need a code nobody else has, like a ticket number.
Now every block after it can use {my_value}.

Example

Work out a total once, use it twice

A Temporary value called total with the value {solve_equation[{option_price} * {option_amount}]}.Then a Reply: That costs {total} coins.
